Privacy policy

Last updated .

WickHunt is an independent directory of discontinued and clearance fragrance oils. We collect as little as we can. You can browse the whole site without an account, and we don’t sell personal information.

Browsing the site

  • No tracking or advertising cookies. Public pages set no cookies, store nothing in your browser, and load no third-party scripts, fonts or analytics.
  • Server logs. Like any website, our hosting provider records technical request data (IP address, browser type, page requested, time) to run and secure the service. These logs are kept only as long as the host’s standard retention.
  • Supplier links. Links to suppliers take you to their own websites, which have their own privacy policies.

Advertising

We don’t show ads at the moment. If we start (for example with Google AdSense), we’ll update this policy beforeads appear, explain the cookies involved, and ask for consent where the law requires it.

Feedback you send us

The contact form stores your message, the topic you chose, and the page it’s about. Giving an email address is optional; it’s used only to reply, never shown or shared, and erased once your message is dealt with. To limit spam we store a scrambled (keyed hash) form of your connection address, not the address itself, and erase it at the same time.

Community photos

If you submit a photo, we keep a re-encoded copy without camera or location data, your optional caption and credit name, the license version you accepted and when, and a scrambled form of your connection address (deleted once the photo is reviewed). We don’t ask for your email. Declined or removed photos have their files deleted. Details are in thecommunity photo policy.

Dupe and blend suggestions, and votes

If you suggest a dupe or blend, we keep what you wrote, your optional display name, and a scrambled form of your connection address (deleted once the suggestion is reviewed). Approved suggestions are shown publicly with your display name, or as “a community member”. When you vote on a suggestion, we keep the vote with a scrambled form of your connection address so each visitor counts once. We don’t ask for your email.

Site administrators

Administrators sign in with GitHub. That sets a sign-in cookie for them only, and we record their GitHub username against the changes they make. Visitors never sign in.

Who processes data for us

Our hosting provider, our database provider, and our photo storage provider store data on our behalf. We don’t sell or rent personal information to anyone.

Your choices

You can ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, through the contact page. To withdraw a photo you submitted, use thephoto removal page. The site isn’t intended for children under 13.

Changes

We’ll update this page when what we collect changes, and change the date at the top.

This policy is a draft and is being reviewed.
